We get it, you want to have your own floor plan and get it priced by three different builders to find your best fit (price wise). Lets be honest though, building a home isn't like picking a car off the lot. There is allot more to home building then selecting a paint color and a few features offered from a list.
Most "high volume builders" are almost as close as you can get to simply picking your model and a few features, but what if you want more than that? What if you don't want the same model as every other house down the block? What if you want something that says YOU? That is when you look to a custom (small volume) home builder however; in this day and age the word "custom" is used too widely and is losing its real meaning in the building industry and that is when you need to really do your homework.
A Custom home means that you have a floor plan designed from your own visions, dreams and ideas, not somebody else's from a book. Custom means that you get to pick every detail in your home (whether its behind the walls or on them) and have everything tailored to your style. But don't let the word custom fool you into thinking that it's expensive! Custom is your vision, your ideas our experience and your budget.
Almost everyday we get a floor plan from someone whom had their dream home designed and they send it to multiple builders to compare pricing. Every builder is so different with their methods of construction and quoting that each quote this person receives won't be anything like the others and more often than not, they all exceed their budget. Why? Because the client does't have a builder guiding them through a design that will fit their budget and the designers are only doing what you came there for... to design a home.
Most people get nervous to design their home through their builder because they are also locked in to build with them too and this goes back to my first comment - "you want to have your own floor plan and get it priced by three different builders". It is a long term relationship, but we can guarantee that it is one you won't regret. Price shopping your builder out doesn't work like it used to. With so many methods of construction and unlimited features and designs, shopping for the "cheaper" guy will put you in a bad spot and you will likely get a home or service that doesn't meet your expectations or the industries standards (long term & short term) Every builder has a different standard that goes into their homes and for the client to know and understand those standards and the differences is very important!
So what do we, Vleeming Construction, do? We take all your visions, ideas and dreams and we design you a floor plan that will fit your budget. We will do our best to get you what you want and what you need into your designs and we won't quit until you are satisfied. If our design exceeds your budget then we start over at our own cost, not yours. If your budget is unrealistic to the house you want, we will let you know up front and educate you on what you could get for your budget. Once designs are finalized and construction begins, this service doesn't quit, it gets better. We educate you at every stage of the home and guide you through every selection. We also ensure that your are fully aware of all costs on your home and nothing gets done without your consent.
But what does a service like this cost? We include this service as part of our Design & Build package. We don't limit the details or revisions and we guarantee your satisfaction of the floor plan. For the build process, you can consult with us as much as you want or need at no expense to you. We believe in making the process as stress-free as possible and we know budgets are extremely important and that is why we ensure budgets are established on day one.
The Skills Canada Competition is a large annual event consisting of every trade and major skill you could think of in the employment industry . Competitors from all over in the secondary and post-secondary levels compete regionally, provincially, nationally and internationally in their specific field of skills. A competitor whom received gold or silver regionally then continues onto provincials. All provincial gold winners then form Team Alberta and move onto Nationals competing for their place in Team Canada. Worlds Skills (International) competes every second year.
The history of #TeamVleeming competing in Skills Canada goes back over 10 years ago before Carlo, president of Vleeming Construction, started his business. Like most competitors, Carlo started competing in Skills Canada on a secondary level and he started in grade 10. Carlo competed each year in the carpentry sector and for his first two years, did not place in the top 3. It is a tough competition with some very talented and skilled people competing.
2006, Carlo's third and final year competing on the secondary level, was the game changer. He now had two years of practice under his belt and he knew what to expect at the competition. He competed Provincially in carpentry and came out with Gold! He then proceeded Nationally, held in Halifax that year, and he came home with a bronze thus making him one of the top three carpenters in all of Canada for 2006!
It still feels like it was just yesterday when we were cheering Carlo on at Skills Canada and to this day, eleven years later, Carlo and the Vleeming Team highly encourage and support the Skills Canada Competition.
Dustin Sejdl has been part of the Vleeming team since 2013. He came to us prior to graduating high school and now is an apprentice carpenter at the Red Deer College. Dustin has a prestigious history competing in the Skills Canada Competition in the Cabinet Making Sector. Between 2012 and 2016, Dustin competed in 10 competitions (regionally up to nationally) and won 7 gold medals, 2 silvers and 1 bronze. He made top 3 in every competition and dominated with first place. This year, Dustin did not compete, but instead he was honoured as a judge for Regionals carpentry and provincials cabinet making.
Josiah Pilon has been part of the Vleeming team since 2012 and has also competed diligently in Skills Canada. From 2012 to 2014, Josiah has competed in 7 competitions (Regionally up to nationally) in the carpentry sector and won 3 golds and 4 silvers. Josiah has also made top 3 in each competition and dominated with second place. This year was Josiah's first year competing in the Post-Secondary level and he came home with a Silver bringing his silver count up to 5!
At Vleeming Construction, we fully support these boys and any staff members that have the opportunity to compete in Skills Canada. The competition provides a real-life experience for the younger generation that they may never have the opportunity to experience again. The skills put to the test in these competitions are everyday skills that are immensely judged and critiqued. The experience sets each competitor up for true success.
